About me
First of all, yes, I have 2 names. I know, it’s confusing. My parents are Bengali, and Bengali’s have the puzzling tradition of giving their child a proper name, and then proceeding to never address said child by this name. Instead, they are immediately appointed a dopey nickname and that is the name everyone uses forever. Makes sense? No, it doesn’t. Anyway, my proper name is Ayan, it’s on my ID and my paychecks and bank accounts, but everyone on Earth calls me Babi (same thing as Bobby).
I grew up NJ, went to school at Columbia, and now live in Brooklyn. I make most of my money as a freelance web developer, my “company” is called 5d Studios.
I play music, almost semi-professionaly. I got my first electric bass when i was 10. It was a candy apple red Jackson-Charvel. It was beautiful. Since then, i’ve picked up as many instruments as my tiny apartment will hold, including dozens of guitars, drums, keyboard, mandolin, banjo, lap steel, and ukulele.
I also picked up the recording bug when i got my first Tascam 488 about 10 years ago. I had a pretty nice home recording setup for a while, including drums in the kitchen, but that was not going to last forever (bless my neighbors for putting up with it for so long). In fact, the Scissor Sisters first smash hit record was recorded in my apartment. Check out some pictures: 5d studios
